Day 4

On day 4 of my Majorca lockdown I intended to give a short lesson in colouring a cartoon using Photoshop but as you will learn from the video something went wrong. I’ve never been good with technology- hey ho! I hope you find it smusing nevertheless!

Lockdown Lessons- Day 3- Character Design

Lord Paul Cemmick’s Lockdown Lessons- Day 3 whilst he is on lockdown in Palma, Majorca for at least two weeks. To relieve the boredom for himself and others in the same situation Lord Paul is posting up daily drawing classes. Have a look and give it a try why don’t you. Have fun! Love, Lord Paul xxx

The cancelled exhibition

Yesterday my exhibition of musicians was supposed to begin in Palma but we have been on lockdown since Monday and it was cancelled. Here is what you would have seen presented by Marilyn Monroe.

Noodles

Lately I have been doing a lot of dog portraits but my latest commission was for a watercolour portrait of a cat. This handsome fellow is called Noodles and he lives in New York in an apartment overlooking Central Park. What a lucky fellow!

Bonzo

This is Bonzo and his owner- my lovely Sister-in-law, Sarah. I wanted to give her a drawing of Bonzo as a belated Christmas present and as Bonzo is rather short and barks a lot I thought I’d draw a caricature of him on stilts. The thought balloon says- That’s better! Now I can see who I’m barking at!

Short videos

I’ve put together a couple of short videos to promote my dog and cat portraits (mainly dogs!). One collects together most of the watercolour portraits I’ve done over the last few months and the is of the digital drawings I’ve done on my iPad.  I hope you like them and if you’d like to commission a pet portrait in either style you can text me for info on- paulcemmick@me.com. Prices from a very affordable £50!

Schnauzer Ball Games

Before Christmas, which I spent in Mallorca, I was still being asked for dog portraits even when it got too late for the post from Spain which is a bit unreliable. So my solution was to draw the rough version and finished line art as normal then colour up the drawing digitally and e-Mail it to the client so that it could be printed out before Christmas. Then I could finish the artwork in watercolour as usual and bring it back to the UK with me to post from there. I always supply the original artwork with watercolour added as it’s a lot more special than having a digital image, I think.
So, here’s that process with a drawing of two Schnauzers who love playing with balls!

Celeb's dogs

At the end of last year after drawing many dogs and their owners I started wondering about Hollywood stars and their dogs. Here are a few that I found! From the right we have a caricature of one off my favourite actors- Vincent Price and his dog, then next  to him we have Humphrey Bogart with one of his dogs (I think I made its head too big), then we have another favourite actor- Ron Perlman with pooch, then Tony Curtis with a puppy and finally one of the most famous dogs in all of Hollywood Toto from The Wizard of Oz! Apparently Toto was paid more per week than any of the little people who played the Munchkins.

Dancing Dog!

As the year begins and before I get started own my next commission I wanted to draw something fun just for myself. Over the latter half of 2019 I got into drawing dogs for friends and for commissions. This new venture took off like a rocket and I produced many caricature portraits in watercolour and ink of various dogs and their owners (with one or two cats thrown in). I hope to carry on with this new sideline from my usual publishing work but first here's a little bit of self indulgence! I call it "Dance, doggy, dance!"
